Re “Governor Ayotte touts N.H. State Police agreement with ICE” (Metro, May 4):
The first and primary duty of a governor is to protect citizens from harm. These are unprecedented times, when lawless government agencies are endangering and frightening American citizens in the cruelest and most malevolent ways.
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey should be calling on all our uniformed police forces, state and local, to begin monitoring the actions of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the US Marshals, and Homeland Security officers. We must protect the Commonwealth’s citizens from unwarranted, opaque, and unlawful enforcement actions.
Kelly Ayotte should be ashamed of herself for capitulating to an authoritarian administration instead of standing up for what is right and guarding the safety of her citizens.
